Description
The Small Poimu is a berry picker the size of a traditional berry picker, agile and easy to handle. With a volume of approximately 2.5 litres, the Small Poimu stays light even when full, which means it does not strain the picker.
The following improvements have been made to the 2025 model:
- The tine length is the same as in the Large Poimu.
- The front edges of the stainless steel handle have been rounded, as a result of which the edges of the handle do not press against the picker’s index finger.
- The picker’s basket is slightly upright relative to the handle, meaning the back of the picker sits slightly lower than the front.
- The front of the wooden handle has been shaped to be even more ergonomic.
- The wooden handle has been oiled.
All Poimu models feature an ergonomic, warm, and firm wooden handle, which allows you to keep picking even through a longer day. The strong and long tines detach berries from the bushes and separate them from debris before they reach the picker’s basket. The aluminium body, stainless steel handle frame, thick tines, and hardwood handle are a guarantee of the picker’s longevity.

I have only picked a couple of buckets with each (large and small) so far, but the difference compared to cheaper store products is clearly noticeable. Although the larger one is really big for a picker, it is surprisingly agile. Both are also “gentle” with the berries. At least I got the feeling that the picker does not catch on the bushes.

Olen poiminut kummallakin (iso ja pieni) vasta pari sankoa, mutta eron huomaa selvästi halvempiin market-tuotteisiin. Vaikka suurempi on tosi iso poimuriksi, on se yllättävän ketterä. Lisäksi molemmat ovat ”hellävaraisia” marjojen suhteen. Ainakin sellainen tunne tuli, ettei poimuri tartu varpuihin.

The best picker I have owned so far — and I have tried (bought) at least 6–7 different picker models in the hope of finding the world’s best picker. The Marja-Maija by Viialan Viila could be considered a benchmark (which I inherited from my father), but its flap rattles (and reveals to fellow pickers that I have found a really good spot) and it is heavier. One year my back could not handle normal picking, so I bought a handled Marjuri, which is otherwise good (once you learn to use the handle — it requires several weeks/months of practice), but its plastic tines are just not good. In Poimu the tines are just right, aluminium is a good material, and the handle fits the hand perfectly. A perfect picker.

Paras poimuri mitä minulla on tähän asti ollut -ja olen kokeillut (ostanut) ainakin 6-7 kpl:tta eri mallisia poimureita siinä toivossa että löytäisin sen maailman parhaan poimurin.
Esikuvana voisi pitää Viialan Viilan Marja-Maijaa (jonka olen perinyt isältäni), mutta sen läppä kolisee (ja paljastaa kanssamarjastajielle että olen osunut tosi hyvään marjapaikkaan) ja on painavampi. Jonain vuonna selkä ei kestänyt ns. normaalipimintaa, jolloin ostin varrelisen Marjurin, joka on muuten hyvä (kun oppii käyttämään sitä vartta, vaatii usean viikon / kuukauden harjoittelun), mutta sen muovipiikit ei vaan ole hyvät.
Poimussa piikit on juuri oikeat, alumiini materiaalina hyvä ja kahva juurikin käteen sopiva, Täydellinen poimuri.

Tällä kerää marjat nopeasti! Ei riivi roskia paljon matkaan joten marjojen siivoaminenkin nopeutuu. En onnistunut marjoja liiskaamaankaan tällä poimurilla mitä väistämättä lyhyt piikkisillä muovipoimureilla tapahtuu. Poimun tasapainotus on onnistunut hyvin. Käyttö pysyy poimurin täyttyessä sujuvana. Kahva käy hyvin isokouraiselle miehellekin. Kahvan kiinni pysyminen niittaamalla arveluttaa mutta aika näyttää kuinka käy. Ehdoton hankinta jokaiselle himo marjastajalle!

Eipä olisi arvannut, että marjanpoiminta voi olla myös välinelaji, kyllä voi. Poiminnan nopeus oli ainakin puolta nopeampaa aikaisempiin poimureihin verrattuna. Voi olla, että annan tämän pienemmän vaimolle ja hankinta itselleni sen isomman version.
